Top 10 Myths about introverts

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.
Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.
On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.
Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.
Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.
Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.
Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.
Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.
Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

You know the “lists” to look out for and up and coming etc. that keep popping up of people doing ‘things’ that are under 20, 30, 40..? Im going to need some under 50’s and soon 60’s because I’m STILL doing things world…and so are many of my friends . ijs. venting and patting myself on the back as I put on my glasses and increase my font size (45 down, 45 to go God willing).

leaving my sisters house, these little girls were on the corner. I asked what they were selling, they said “Nothing. We made perfume and want to give samples away”. I asked who made it, they all did together plus one other friend. I asked made with what…”stuff” was the answer. I told them “I’ll settle for a squirt on my wrist so i smell pretty the rest of the day”. Despite the ‘stuff’ aroma only lasting for two seconds and taking a chance the ‘stuff’ wont burn my skin off somehow, I gave them each 1$ plus one more for the other friend, which gave them a BIG smile on their face and told them good luck. I left saying..find some containers and sell that ‘stuff’. It doesn’t take much to make dream chasers, go getters, over achievers…. just a little support. Im very aware of children and the support and self esteem they need.THEY INSPIRED me today. #truth

Here is a pic of me during my performance for the 7th Installment of the Truth Project held by Kevin Anderson in Houston on World Aids Day. I am blessed to be able to work with someone such as Kevin who has a positive purpose and a passion. I chose airbrush as my media this time to have the ability to complete a painting in two hours in front of an audience. The concept is bringing awareness to subject matter the world is faced with no matter race, age, ethnicity etc. such as discrimination, self esteem, bullying stigma, abuse and HIV). I wasn’t able to finish it in the two hours…but almost. Thanks to Kevin for being an inspiration on showing compassion purpose and passion to the world. The show, all the performers which included dancers, and poets, AND Grammy award winner / singer Chrisette Michele who was the headliner was AWESOME!

Guess who’s going to be doing a live performance painting in Houston Tx, i predict in front of several several several hundreds of people in a few weeks…focusing on a subject matter that is extremely important to me and that I support in cause-AIDS Awareness Day…AND guess who will be blessed to be sharing that same stage with Grammy Award Winning Singer Chrisette Michele before she performs her amazing songs in voice in a city that I’m sure will give great energy and appreciate her (<—subliminal message here because if you lived in San Antonio-enough said)? Give up? ME that’s who… yea…(my) Life is Good. So now the hard part..what to paint? *scratching my head and not because of dandruff but because I need to represent!

Pen pals literally a thing of the past

memory I just remembered as i listen to UK soul internet radio…I use to have a pen pal from London about 30 yrs ago. We use to exchange music via cassettes and snail mail so it took about 2 weeks to get it but the anticipatiion was always worth it. I would send her American soul and she’d send Uk soul. Both of us were getting music from different countries we under circumstances back then would never get to hear. The internet now makes it easy to get music from around the world and it boggles me with so much music out there universally the people who choose to only listen to top 40 ANYTHING. a click of a button lets you go around the world in 10 seconds. I bet I have some of her letters still somewhere in my moms garage. Personally..I got the better end of the stick. UK soul > American Soul more often than not ..yesterday and today..key phrase more often than not.

Having a conversation with a friend about comic books and toys you order from them….anyone else every order these sea monkeys from the back of comic books when you were a child? Imagine that…FALSE ADVERTISEMENT way back when! A childs expectations can be high sometimes and easily disappointed…I wanted them to look exactly like the picture…They didnt grow to look like the picture…and just now thinking about it…I want my money back! Good memories though :)
